“Where passion finds purpose.” The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) is a private arts college located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and offers a transformative educational experience for aspiring creatives to find their path and define their personal identity.
MIAD came to the team at Zero Studios to refresh their entire brand identity—everything besides the logo. MIAD’s iconic logo, designed by Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv, is a perfect square. The square serves as the foundation for the MIAD brand and influences all layout, composition and graphic treatments.
In MIAD’s mission statement, their paramount value is “courage, to seek your own path.” To persue a future in art and design is to bravely trust your passion to guide you where you want to go—to find your purpose.
To visually represent each student’s unique path at MIAD, graphic pathways are constructed by recording the path made when translating a square around the square grid.
